Personal resilience helps to live actively and happily. Do you recover quickly from setback? Are you not troubled by your own thoughts? Can you enjoy life? Do you choose what is important for you? Can you resolve conflicts well? Do you think your life has meaning? Then your mental condition is fine. If not, please read on....

Mental condition is a new term to indicate psychological defensibility. Working on mental fitness enlarges your creativity, productivity and wellbeing. Research from Trimbos institute teaches us that mental condition is determined by 7 life rules:

1. Live according to  your own mission and set goals: know what you want and act out of principles which are important for you.

2. Work on your positive feelings: do things which you enjoy and see your own positive characteristics and qualities.

3. Settle destructive thoughts. Lead those not-helping, negative thoughts into helping, positive thoughts.

4. Live in the here and now and give attention to what you are doing: notice what's going on in the environment and in yourself. Live as little as possible on autopilot.

5. Work on positive relations: invest time and attention in relations with other people and look at the positive characteristics of others.

6. Don't run away from your problems, but take an active approach. Make priorities and start to solve something, but keep effort in balance with relaxation.

7. Live healthy: eat healthy, drink moderate (or no) alcohol, don't smoke and excercise sufficiently.

Life is not always easy, but you can better deal with setbacks when you improve your mental condition. A good target for next year? A helping hand by means of sessions with a coach/counselor can make the difference. Please don't hesitate to contact me to talk about possibilities.
